Canterbury Floods

In the weekends, there was a storm that happened and many Canterbury cities are flooding because of this. Ashburton, Timaru and Selwyn are all declaring a civil defence emergency after severe flooding. The Eyre River and Ashley River stopbanks are all expected to fail with hundreds of residents expecting to evacuate.

In Ashburton, if the floods breach the stopbanks then half of the town's residents will have to evacuate as about 3000 houses will be at risk of flooding. Rubberneckers told to keep away from flooding in South Canterbury | Stuff.co.nz

  1. Very well reported Kareem. The image gives a great view of the flooding. Label your images in the future so people reading your Blog can make the connection between your text and the image. Keep up the good work Kareem.
