"Hello, what do you mean?" to the foreigner

Languages In Australia
I might think it would be alright with the language in Australia, but I am at the airport and there must be foreigners in the airport. What if someone asks me "Where are the directions?" in their language because they forgot English. In Australia might say things differently so I might not be able to understand.
